JUPEB at Caleb University: how to get started

For candidates given a JUPEB admission code by the Admissions office.

This page is for candidates who have been given a JUPEB admission code by the Caleb University Admissions office. It takes you from that slip of paper to a full student account, step by step. You do not need an email address or a password to begin, and there is nothing to pay to get in.

What JUPEB is

JUPEB — the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board — is a one-year programme. You study three subjects, sit the JUPEB examination, and on passing you enter university at 200 level rather than 100. At Caleb you do that year here, with a Caleb matric number, a Caleb email address and a Caleb student portal.

Before you start

  • Your admission code. Ten characters on the slip the Admissions office gave you, like ABCDE-12345. Capitals or small letters, with or without the dash — it makes no difference.
  • Your admission letter. The physical letter. You will photograph it.
  • A phone with a working camera, or a scanned PDF of the letter.
  • Your names exactly as written on that letter. Not shortened, not reordered.
  • Your subject combination. It is named on your letter. You will choose it from a list.
You do not need an email address to start, and you do not need to pay anything to get in. Your Caleb email address is created for you after the Admissions officer approves you. If anybody asks you to pay them to open your portal or create your email, they are not from the university.

The steps

1

Go to the JUPEB page

Open calebuniversity.edu.ng/jupeb on your phone or a computer.

2

Enter your code and your names

Type the code from your slip, then your surname, first name, and middle name if you have one.

Your names must match your admission letter exactly. An officer reads the letter and checks it against what you typed. A name that does not match is the most common reason an application waits.
3

Choose your subject combination

Pick the combination named on your admission letter. They are grouped into three classes, and the form lists the exact combinations inside each one.

SciencesPCM · PCB · CBM · PMB
Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics; Physics, Chemistry & Biology; Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics; Physics, Mathematics & Biology
CommercialBAE · BAG · BEG · AEG
Business, Accounting & Economics; Business, Accounting & Government; Business, Economics & Government; Accounting, Economics & Government
ArtsLCG
Literature in English, CRS & Government
This choice sets your fee, because the two groups are priced differently. Choose what your letter says. If you pick the wrong one, the officer who reads your letter will correct it before you are approved — but it is far simpler to get it right here.
4

Photograph your admission letter

This is the step people most often have to repeat, so it is worth doing carefully the first time.

  • Lay the letter flat on a table. Do not hold it up in your hand.
  • Take the picture in good daylight, not under a dim bulb at night.
  • Stand so your own shadow does not fall across the paper.
  • Get all four corners in the picture.
  • Check you can read every line before you send it. If you cannot read it on your own phone, neither can the officer.

A PDF is fine if you have a scan. The largest file accepted is 10MB.

An officer reads every line of that letter. A blurred photograph comes back to you and costs you at least a day. Take three pictures and send the clearest.
5

Wait to be approved

When you submit, your application opens straight away and you are taken to your own page. It will say you are waiting for the Admissions officer.

The officer checks your letter against the names you typed. There is nothing for you to do while you wait, and redeeming another code does not make it faster.

6

Your matric number and Caleb email address

When the officer approves you, three things happen at once, without you asking:

  • You are given a JUPEB matric number, in the form JP/26/001.
  • A Caleb email address is created for you.
  • Your clearance form is opened.
Activate your Caleb email and start using it. Everything official from this point — from the JUPEB office, from the Bursary, your results — goes there.
7

Clearance

Clearance is the university confirming, office by office, that you are properly admitted. Each office signs for its own part, and your portal shows you who has signed and who has not.

Your form is headed JUPEB Student Clearance Form. Your offices are Academic Affairs, the Bursary, Student Affairs, the Medical Centre, the Library, Counselling, Biometric Registration, ICT, and the JUPEB Office. You do not have a College — the JUPEB Officer signs in its place.

When every office has signed, download the form, print it, and take the printed copy to the Academic Affairs office. That step completes your registration.

8

Your fees

Your fee for the 2026/2027 session depends on the combination you are taking.

 Other ProgrammesSciences
Programme fees₦800,000₦850,000
Examination fees₦30,000₦30,000
Other fees₦160,000₦160,000
Total₦990,000₦1,040,000

Paying in instalments

You may pay in full, or in up to three instalments:

  • 50% before resumption
  • 25% before the first semester examinations
  • 25% before the second semester resumption

Hostel

Accommodation is separate and is charged when a room is allocated to you, not with your school fees. Rooms are given out at resumption on a first-come, first-served basis. Current rates are on the fees page.

Sending evidence of a bank payment

If you pay into the university's account rather than online, open your invoice in your portal and choose "I paid at the bank — send evidence". Enter the amount, the teller or transfer reference, and attach a photograph of the teller.

Your balance does not change when you send the evidence. It shows as pending until the Bursary has checked it against the bank, and only then does it count. That is deliberate — it is how the university makes sure nothing is recorded as paid that never arrived.
9

Your subjects and your results

Once you are a JUPEB student, your own JUPEB page shows the three subjects in your combination, your marks as they are entered, and where you stand against the points you need to progress.

If something goes wrong

My code is not accepted

Check you are on /jupeb and not the JAMB sign-in page. Type the code again carefully — the letter O and the number 0 are easy to confuse. If it still will not work, take your slip back to the Admissions office; a code can only be used once and yours may already have been redeemed.

I chose the wrong combination

Nothing is lost. The officer reads your admission letter before approving you and will correct it. If you have already been approved, write to the JUPEB office from your Caleb email address.

My letter will not upload

The file may be over 10MB. Take the picture again at a lower quality setting, or send a PDF. If it still fails, try on mobile data instead of WiFi — a weak connection drops large uploads.

I have been waiting several days

Sign in and read what your page says. If it still says you are waiting, write to admissions@calebuniversity.edu.ng and quote the code on your slip. Do not redeem a second code — it creates a second application.

An office has not signed my clearance

Your portal names each office and shows whether it has signed. Go to the office that is outstanding. If it shows a note against your name, that note is what they need from you.

I paid but my balance has not changed

If you paid online, wait a few minutes and refresh. If you paid at the bank and sent evidence, it stays pending until the Bursary confirms it — that is normal. If it has not moved after a few working days, take your teller to the Bursary.

Someone is asking me to pay them to process my admission

Do not pay them. The university charges nothing to create your email address, open your portal or sign your clearance. Report it to admissions@calebuniversity.edu.ng.

Still stuck? Write to admissions@calebuniversity.edu.ng and quote the code on your slip, or take the slip to the Admissions office.
